Cheap roundtrip ticket from Dallas, Texas to Japan (Tokyo and vicinity)?

I have been searching online, and found that the roundtrip ticket price from DFW to NRT (or other nearby airports in Japan) is around $1,000 USD+tax, etc., and this price has been shown as the lowest price…

I tried orbitz.com, jal.com, expedia.com, and used google, but still couldn’t find a cheaper roundtrip ticket to Japan.

I’ve heard that it is possible to buy a roundtrip ticket for around $600 USD in slow season and/or with promotion, so I wonder if anyone can let me know how to find a ticket for such a great price.

Should I contact a travel agency?
If this is the case, please provide any suggested travel agents, if any.

Or is there something that I can search via the net? Which websites?

Thank you very much.

Air Canada has the lowest *base fare* currently at $575rt (with taxes and fees, about $875); this via Toronto each way. However, consolidator Asia.com has a fare with American for $751.44.

If you’re flexible, you might just sign up for fare alerts from AA.com to your email. This time of year (Nov-Mar) is cheapest. You might find something less than 750 that way, but if your dates are locked, 750 isn’t bad at all for this itinerary. Just be sure to show your frequent flyer card when boarding and returning–that’s a lot of miles to forego!

I am from Dallas and I am living in Japan. $1,000 is a good price round trip. I don’t like buying tickets online. Whenever I travel, I always get the best fares from travel agents.

i live in Tokyo and i’ve been looking for tickets for a while from tokyo to Dallas. i really cant find anything for less than $940. some of the guys i work with in japan also suggested a travel agency. one guy said he got tickets from an agency 3 weeks before his flight for $870. good luck, it sucks but your pretty much going to have to pay around $1000.
